Some time back, I discovered this simple recipe of whole wheat dosa! It has become a regular on my breakfast list! I used oatmeal instead of flax seeds and with some other minor changes, it has become one of favorite breakfast!
These dosas don’t really need oil, but you can help yourselves with teaspoon of peanut butter or ghee! They are pretty quick , healthy and even good for lunch box!
Serves 8-9 dosas/pancakes
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup oats (powdered or blend in blender)
3 tbsp rava or semolina
3 to 3 1/2 cups water
1-2 green chillies (chopped)
1 tbsp (heaped) cumin
oil for greasing
- In a big mixing bowl, mix powdered oats , whole wheat flour , chopped chillies, salt and cumin.
- Slowly add water along with mixing to form thin or runny batter. Take care that lumps are not formed. The thinner the batter, the more time it will take to cook and thinner are the dosas/pancakes. I prefer thin dosas.
- Heat the griddle and grease it with little oil. Pour a ladle full of batter and in round circular motion ,from inner side to outer ,spread the batter evenly. (Just like you make dosas or any other pancakes, but spread them quickly because the batter is runny). Let the dosa be on griddle for 2-3 minutes and turn over dosa so that another side can be cooked.
- The dosas/pancakes are spongy and soft.
I served it with roasted onion chutney!
You can serve it with peanut chutney too!
