Most famous maharashtrian breakfast, a quick and quite filling one too! So simple to prepare and easily digestible. Years back i had aloo poha in gujarat. I cant forget the taste even today! I have used onions. you can use both onions and boiled pototoes. Some people use grated carrot ,pomegranate, peas! Add as per your choice .But somethings are meant to be simple! so here goes the recipe.

serves 2 persons

Ingredients

2 bowls thick poha (flattened rice)

1 big onion (cut in small to medium size)

3-4 green chillies(chopped)

1/2 tsp mustard+cumin seeds

1/2 tsp saunf

5-6 curry leaves

2 tsp lemon juice

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

2 tbsp roasted groundnuts

salt

1 tsp sugar

2 tbsp chopped coriander

11/2 tbsp oil

water

Procedure

  • Immerse the poha in excess water for about 5 mins or till soft. Squeeze the excess water from poha using the two palms. Do not rub, dont mash the poha. You just want separated poha grains with moisture in it.
  • Heat the oil in deep vessel. Add mustard-cumin .Allow it crackle. Add saunf, green chillies, curry leaves. Give it a gentle mix. Add onions and salt. Saute till onions are soft. Add turmeric powder. Mix it.Add wet poha and mix properly. Add sugar and coriander and mix it. Put off the heat. Add lemon juice and roasted groundnuts. Mix properly.
  • Serve hot. It will dry up very soon. If dried, just sprinkle little water with fingers and heat it for minute or heat in oven! enjoy!
