You love oats or hate oats , but you cant ignore them! I mean how can you ignore them! In between my love-hate relationship with oats, i just discovered the interesting combo of cinnamon & oatmeal! The flavour is just awesome. And caramalised nuts, they are my all time favourite. Its like bribing yourself to eat oatmeal for breakfast everyday!
Serves for 1 person
1 small cup oats (i used saffola oats, you can use any)
1 cup water
1 tsp honey
For caramalised nuts
7-8 cashew nuts ( or any other nuts, your choice!)
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder (dalchini)
1 tsp sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp clarified butter (ghee)
- In a vessel, add water and milk and bring it to boil. Add oats in boiling milk and simmer it for 3-4 minutes. Add little water if it become too thick.
- For caramalisation, take a non-stick pan. Heat butter or ghee in it. Add sugar and water ( ya you heard it right, it is water). Add all the nuts,raisins and cinnamon powder. Keep stirring till water is evaporated and only sugar bubbles are remaining. Stir till nuts start sticking to each other.
- Put off the heat . Take the nuts & raisins in dry plate. You will now see the white sugar layer on the nuts and they will become crunchy. Then they are perfectly caramalised. Cool them and store them in tight jar and use them as required.
- Mix oatmeal and caramalised nuts with honey . Serve it warm for breakfast.
