One of my favourites.But, thats not it! its delicious and easy. Thats amazing combination! Flavoured with kasoori methi and garlic, it tastes best with jeera rice and peas pulao. Here goes the recipe!
feeds : 2 persons
1 bowl of yellow pigeon peas (tuvar dal)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 inch ginger piece
11/2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard+cumin seeds
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
7-8 curry leaves
1 red chilly
1 tsp green chilly paste
1/2 tsp cumin powder(jeera powder)
3 tbsp kasoori methi (dry fenugreek leaves)
1 small tomato
3-4 big garlic gloves(choppped)
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- Wash and drain pigeon peas. Soak peas in water for 20 mins. Pressure cook peas along with crushed ginger and turmeric powder till soft. Remove ginger piece when peas are boiled.
- Take vessel. Heat oil, add mustard+ cumin seeds ,allow them to splutter. Add chopped garlic fry properly, put green chilly paste, hing and kasoori methi. Fry for around 30 sec. Add red chilly and jeera powder. At last, add tomato and fry properly. Pour dal into tempering. Add salt. Mix thoroughly. Simmer for 2 mins. Turn off the heat. Serve with dash of lemon. Garnish with cilantro or coriander leaves. Serve with jeera rice or peas pulao or even plain steamed rice. I enjoy it with plain rotis also!
